Just one day prior to the first AVOLA symposium, the 4th BoD meeting was held. Topics included mainly the progress-reports on different projects, and the planning for 2025. In the new year, we will start three major initiatives:
- Expert Committee Meetings are organized on specific topics, e.g. one health, metabolic health, health economics, etc. – this group is led by David Fäh and Denis Bourgeois. The idea is to evaluate different topics with leading experts in the field, thus to improve our understanding and offer directions for future developments.
- Education Workshops will be held to prepare the scientific and clinical content of the 2026 symposium – this group is led by Kirsten Warrer and Bo Danielsen.
- A Junior Committee will be established to offer younger professionals a voice within the organization – this group is led by Björn Klinge and Marcel J. Scacchi. For this topic, we invited two guests to the board meeting who are both rather interested in driving this initiative forward: Raman Kaur Preet (SWE-Umea) and Aleksandar Milosavljevic (SWE-Malmö). In spring 2025, a workshop will be organized to identify first ideas and projects.
- Last but not least, we invited Prof. Dr. Hannelore Daniel (DE-Munich) as a guest-speaker on the topic of “Gut Physiology meets Microbiome Science”. An eye-opening experience! For more information please visit her personal website.
